Aitor Ortiz

Spanish, 1971–present

Ortiz is globally renowned for his research on and photographs of architecture, space and objects. He has published more than a dozen books and participated in interesting projects such as photographic documentation of the construction process of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (19951998), the 2012 collaboration with the Swiss artist Not Vital in the publication of his work, and with French architect Philippe Prost in the Mémorial International Notre-Dame-de-Lorette 2015 editorial project. 

Ortiz’s work has been exhibited individually in the Museum of the University of Navarra, Pamplona (​​2018), Le Centquatre, Paris (2015), MACUF, A Coruña (2014), Fotografiska Stockholm (2011), Patio Herreriano Museum, Valladolid (2009) or the ARTIUM Museum (Vitoria, 2006) and in collective exhibitions in more than thirty countries. His work is currently presented in the MNCARS collection, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Iberdrola Collection, the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, the Patio Herreriano Museum and the “La Caixa” Foundation Contemporary Art Collection, among others.

Recently Ortiz has been a beneficiary of a Leonardo Grant by the BBVA Foundation, for the realization of the LINK project. He is currently completing a monographic project on the built work of the architect Antoni Gaudí.
