Johan Strindberg

Swedish, 1982–present

Strindberg studied photography at the School of Photography in Gamleby, Sweden. With his bushy hair one might suspect a family tie to the notorious Swedish writer (and also photographer) August Strindberg.

Strindberg photographs moments, the here and now. He shoots daily pictures of whatever type of life captures his eye. With his pronounced ability to use light, or even the lack of light, combined with him photographing photographs to create layers upon layers, he’s managed to create his own visual world.

In 2014 Strindberg was awarded the “Young Nordic Photographer of the Year” from Fotografiska, and in 2015 he made his writing debut with the book Grainland. The sequel Cirkeln was released in 2018.
