Marie Hald

Danish, 1987–present

Hald graduated in 2013 with a BA in photojournalism from The Danish School of Media and Journalism. She has also studied at the International Center of Photography, ICP in New York City.

Hald has won a World Press Photo Award, The Danish Picture of the Year and many other international prizes for her long term project documenting the life of a Danish mother working in the sex industry. She has exhibited at museums such as Haus der Photographie der Deichtorhallen, Hamburg to Nobel’s Peace Center in Oslo. Her work focuses on the connection between mental health and bodies and her three recent documentary projects have revolved around eating disorders and body activism.

In 2018 she exhibited her first solo exhibition A New Me 2018 at Fotografiska, and has recently been featured as one of the six new talents worldwide discovered by the World Press Photo foundation. Hald is a part of Moment Agency / Institute Artists.

Hald is living and working in Copenhagen.
