Artist Talk

Diasporic experiences and the global politics of Black resistance

Join us for a conversation with Omar Victor Diop and Azu Nwagbogu about the representation of diasporic experiences and the global politics of Black resistance. Using self-portraiture as a tool to engage with complex representational politics, Diop’s work can be seen as community embodiment; giving his image as a voice to others. We will learn more about his practice in which he delves into history and current topics and presents these to us as the protagonist. After the talk, there is an opportunity to purchase the exhibition catalogue and get it signed by the artist.

The exhibition Omar Victor Diop is on view at Fotografiska Berlin from 19 Jan - 21 Apr 2024.
