Bettina Freimann
Curator and Sinologist, Co-curator at independent art space Âme Nue
Bettina Freimann is an independent curator and sinologist. She studied Sinology, Cultural Studies and Art History in Leipzig, Tübingen, Hamburg, Beijing, and Taipei, holding a Master’s degree in Chinese studies. As co-curator of the independent art space Âme Nue (since 2016), she has realized numerous exhibitions for Hamburg-based and international artists: aaajiao, Karo Akpokiere, Moshtari Hilal, Lu Yang, Tabita Rezaire, Buhlebezwe Siwani, Lorna Simpson, Hoda Tawakol & Ye Funa, among others. Since 2021, she has been working as an independent curator. Freimann organized the photographer Claudius Schulze’s solo show Traces of Fragility, Parisa Azadi’s Ordinary Grief in the frame of the 8th Triennial of Photography Hamburg (2022), the performance BEYOND with Isaac Chong Wai, and the group show Clear River, Calm Sea in the frame of CHINA TIME 2022. Freimann lives and works in Hamburg.
