Michael Danner

Photographer, Professor for Photography at University of Europe for Applied Sciences

Michael Danner is the Professor for Photography at University of Europe for Applied Sciences. As an art educator, Danner takes on numerous activities, at universities and other cultural institutions: as speaker, curator and workshop lecturer. He is a juror at Deutscher Fotobuchpreis, PUNKT–Preis für Fotografie der ACATECH, and Hamburg Portfolio Review (HPR). Danner adopts political and anthropological approached throughout his artistic practices, investigating contested sites and histories. In doing so, Danner questions the construction of (documentary) images that are part of the perception of our living world. The work often includes archive materials and texts intertwined into multilayered systems. With his photo series CRITICAL MASS, Danner investigates the nuclear industry and its controversies, in MIGRATION AS AVANT-GARDE historic and present day migration. Danner lives and works in Berlin.
