Herbal Medicine and The Natural World Workshops with Herbalist Suhaly Bautista-Carolina Workshop #2
Dec 14 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM, 2020The second of three workshops in celebration of Naima Greens Exhibition, Brief & Drenching, led by spiritual herbalist, community organizer, and artist, Suhaly Bautista-Carolina of Moon Mother Apothecary, who will be joined by Frances Perez-Rodriguez.
Join us at Fotografiska for “The Medicine of the Moon,” a three-part, hands-on, plant medicine workshop series guided by spiritual herbalist, Suhaly Bautista-Carolina of Moon Mother Apothecary. Throughout the series, attendees will explore and learn about herbs, plants and their relationship to our nearest celestial planet, the moon.
Through a decolonization lens, we will navigate the rich, complex histories and trajectories of specific plant allies including lavender, rose, and mugwort across space, place, and time. During our time together, we intentionally center the wisdom of the collective, welcoming in the intuitive, learned, and inherited knowledge of all participants, facilitators, and attendees.
- Each workshop will be co-led in collaboration with knowledgeable community herbalists, farmworkers, and flower essence practitioners.
- Workshops will be interactive knowledge sharing experiences, coupled with hands-on medicine making.
- Attendees can expect to create their own herbal medicines and products to take home during each workshop.
- Each workshop will be an individual offering that gradually builds on the wisdom of the previous session.
- Temperature checks will be administered prior to entering the building, and a safe social distance of 6 feet between parties must be maintained during the workshop.
- Participants are welcomed to join for one, two, or all three workshops in the series.
- No previous knowledge is necessary.
For everyone’s well being attendance will be capped at 30 people (25% of usual capacity). All participants are required to wear masks for the full 60 minutes, and we will practice social distancing.
