Join Graydon Carter, former Editor of Vanity Fair, and founder of the online publication Air Mail, artist Edward Sorel, and painter Diane Voyentzie for a conversation with writer, painter and muralist Glenn Palmer-Smith and photographer Joshua McHugh to discuss their book Murals of New York City (Rizzoli).
This is sure to be a lively discussion about the murals of New York City, in particular Sorel’s creations at Monkey Bar and The Waverly Inn.
Through Joshua’s full color photographs we will be transported from our living rooms into the beauty and glamour of iconic New York rooms we adore.

About Graydon Carter
Graydon Carter is the founder and editor of Air Mail, a digital weekly newsletter that unfolds like the better weekend editions of your favorite newspapers. He was editor of Vanity Fair from July 1992 to December 2017. A former staff writer for both Time and Life, he co-founded Spy magazine and served as editor of The New York Observer. He is also an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning documentary filmmaker. His most recent project is The Inventor, directed by Alex Gibney and just released by HBO. Born in Toronto, Canada, Carter resides in Greenwich Village with his wife, Anna, and their daughter. He also has four older children.
About Glenn Palmer-Smith
New York-based Glenn Palmer-Smith’s career has spanned from being a Paris fashion photographer to photographer’s representative to muralist, having restored the famed Bemelmans Bar and Café Carlyle murals at the Hotel Carlyle. His work has been written about in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Forbes. Most recently he has finished the first in a series of murals for the Christopher Newport University in Virginia.
About Joshua McHugh
Joshua McHugh is a New York based freelance photographer who specializes in architecture, interior, and design related projects. His images regularly appear in national and international publications including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, Interior Design, and Architektur & Wohnen. He also collaborates frequently with many of today’s leading architects and interior designers. Recent commissions have sent him to dramatic locations near and far: from Montana to Beirut. His images have illustrated numerous volumes on design, and his book Murals of New York City was first published by Rizzoli in 2013, with a new edition in 2020.
