CLASS DESCRIPTION

In this portfolio intensive, participants submit their work for assessment by Ivan Shaw, Corporate Photography Director for Condé Nast. Portfolios will be shared for workshopping in group sessions, with focused feedback from Ivan on both strengths and areas for improvement.

This class is open to those with an advanced fashion photography practice as well as those who are starting out or transitioning from another area of focus. Portfolio analyses will include suggestions of relevant work and influences, as well as a discussion around the evolving contexts and platforms for fashion photography, and how to work with hair, makeup, casting, and styling to enhance the impact of the image.

IVAN SHAW was the Executive Photography Director at Vogue magazine for twenty years. Since 2016, he has been the Corporate Photography Director for Condé Nast and a Contributing Visuals Editor of The World of Interiors. He was a faculty member of the MPS Graduate Fashion Photography at SVA School of Visual Arts in New York from 2011 to 2016, and has authored several books about photography, fashion and style.
