About the Event

Kicking off the Unfiltered Jazz Festival is the record release for keyboardist/composer Erik Deutsch’s eighth album La Nuit Blanche (Ropeadope Records). Translated as the white night, the expression refers to what we would call an all-nighter, a night that ends in daylight. This all-star band features Avi Bortnick (guitar), Freddy Cash (bass), Brian Drye (trombone), Tony Mason (drums), Mike McGinnis (reeds).

Erik Deutsch has performed and recorded with a stunning variety of artists ranging from Roseanne Cash to Nels Cline to Levon Helm. It’s not just the sheer number, it’s the wide range of style and of course, the quality of the artists that is so striking. Deutsch can hang with the Jazz cats, the jambanders, and any country or Americana player out there. A full time member of the pioneering jam band Leftover Salmon until late 2019, Erik switched it up and joined The Chicks (The Dixie Chicks) in early 2020.

The night will begin with Stuart Bogie’s newest improvising group. The multi-instrumentalist of Arcade Fire, Antibalas, JRAD, Iron & Wine, etc. fame returns to Fotografiska where he was in residence for much of 2021.

Featuring Miles Francis – drums, Spencer Zahn – bass, Adelyn Strei – clarinet, alto sax, guitar

Over five evenings in July 2022, Fotografiska New York will host the inaugural Unfiltered Jazz Festival, featuring some of the international music scene’s most dynamic and accomplished musical voices, inviting the audience to experience the ephemeral qualities of thrilling music.

General Admission tickets include museum admission. A limited number of special price tickets are available to Members & Patron Level Members on a first come, first served basis.
