Unfiltered Jazz Festival Night IV

Brandee Younger is a Grammy Nominated harpist, who recently made history as the first Black female solo artist nominated in the Best Instrumental Composition category for her song “Beautiful Is Black”. The mesmerizing track is from her 2021 critically well-received major label debut album, Somewhere Different, that also received a 2022 NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Jazz Album – Instrumental. Over her career Ms. Younger has performed and recorded across countless genres with artists including John Legend, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, Common, Pharoah Sanders, Ravi Coltrane, Ron Carter, and Charlie Haden.

It is with much excitement that she shares the stage with Joel Ross, a vibraphone master and songwriter for a very special duo performance at this year’s Unfiltered Jazz Festival Night IV. Topping the DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star category for vibraphone, Bluenote Records recording artist Ross has graduated beyond the Rising Star to well-honed artist in 2021. Ross has adopted an entire ethos dependent on truthful, ongoing communication with critically acclaimed releases KingMaker (2019), Who Are You? (2020) and, most recently, The Parable of the Poet.

This highly anticipated event is a special demonstration of successful Black musicians paving the way for future generations.
