Instead, hold the match close to the tip and strike in a straight line, being careful not to burn yourself. Once the flame reaches the incense stick, blow it out and place it on the burning pad. If the match breaks or snaps in half, you can still light it with a lighter, being careful not to burn yourself, and place it on the pad. Simply push the two halves together, and the second half should light easily. Although this is not a common issue, it may occur if you strike the match too hard.
