Dalai Lama Poster
This poster reproduction of Wiking’s portrait of the Dalai Lama (Lhamo Thundup) is a closely observed black and white study of the present Tibetan spiritual leader, which exhibits an extraordinary photogenic ability on the part of the subject to suggest an intimate dialogue between the sitter and the viewer.
Albert Wiking is a Swedish photographer, designer, and producer who investigates humanitarian themes through wide ranging portraiture projects. He has helmed several global wide projects exploring – amongst other themes – humanity's relationship with alcohol, and the part of idealism and resilience in personal and political causes.
This image (2011) is from an exhibition of 2016 at Fotografiska, Stockholm, We Have A Dream, which was a selection of 114 portraits by Wiking of inspired and inspiring personalities he journeyed around the globe to photograph.
