At first sight, Anna Clarén’s photos are almost frighteningly beautiful, but a closer look tells the observer that behind this beauty lies a sense of anxiousness, induced by the picture's thin, pale appearance. By being deeply personal yet at the same time exposing her private thoughts to the public, Clarén's photos raise questions about existence, belonging and the future.

In the photo series Close to Home (2013) the artist went back to her journals about her own life. She shows us personal photographs of what is close to her heart; family, children and friends in an attempt to freeze time in her happiest moments.
