Can You Hear Me? Poster
Photographer Christopher Hunt about the portrait: "I was commissioned by the British magazine GQ to photograph the environmental activist Greta Thunberg in Stockholm for the September 2019 issue, when Greta received the award for 'Game changer of the year.'"
The photo shoot took place on Friday 12 July 2019 at the Sheraton Hotel, near Mynttorget, where Greta organized her weekly school strikes on Fridays. Greta was comfortable in front of the camera and quickly adapted to the role of speaking directly to the viewer by pointing at the camera with her quote underneath, "Can you hear me?" from her speech to the British Parliament. We had 10 minutes for the whole shoot as Greta needed to return to the strike.
The portrait shows Greta carrying the weight of an adult in a large jacket and taking responsibility to help reduce the effects of climate change around the world by raising awareness of the issue.
