End of Line Poster
“End of Line” shows a five-story residential building constructed above the clouds, the end of a train track, and two people looking down and around to nowhere.
Swedish surrealist photographer and visual artist Erik Johansson operates with as much technical skill as curiosity and boundless imagination. Creating worlds that feel familiar and unfamiliar to us at once, Johansson manufactures images of magic and fantasy that capture ideas rather than moments, and elicit a breadth of responses from childlike fancy to philosophical intrigue. In short, Johansson playfully employs photography to make possible the impossible — a principal theme directing the artist’s photographic practice and recent venture into moving images, as well as the topic of his TED Talk “Impossible Photography,” held in London in 2011.
“End of Line” featured in Imagine: Created Reality — Johansson’s solo exhibition at Fotografiska Stockholm held in 2016.
