James Nachtwey is one of our most respected photojournalists, who has given war photography a new expression. Nachtwey has received many awards for both his journalistic work and his contribution to art and humanitarian work. In 2001 he received the Common Wealth Award, and in 2003 the Dan David-award and in 2007 the TED-award and the Heinz-award. In 2012 he was given the Dresden-award for his work for international peace. In 2016 he received the Princess of Asturias award. In 2017 he was chosen into the International Photography Hall of Fame. Nachtwey has also been given Robert Capas golden medallion five times for exceptional bravery and engagement, and the list goes on..
