Jay-Z with Cat Poster
One of the world’s most respected portrait photographers, Schoeller’s pictures show how inspiring, playful and at the same time highly professional the photoshoots have been when many of the most famous people in the world have posed for his camera. For example, when Jay Z relaxes in a diner, Quentin Tarantino attempts to break loose from his straight jacket surrounded by the ultimate symbol of peace – white doves, or when Marina Abramovic hangs around with good-looking naked people on the subway.
As an emerging photographer Schoeller managed (through many of life’s twists and turns) to secure a position as an assistant to Annie Leibovitz, whose innovative style suited him perfectly. Ever since, Schoeller has been expanding his creative horizon in all directions possible. Not long after, he was sought after by the world’s most established newspapers and magazines for portraits. In addition to these, he pursued his own personal project, such as the famous “Close Up” series, where he had his models pose for intimate portraits shot in a way that highlights certain facial characteristics.
