Finissage for The New Black Vanguard
We are happy to welcome you to the official finissage for “The New Black Vanguard”.
After a successful Afripedia Talks hosted to launch the exhibition we are now wrapping it up with an exclusive evening. This time we’ve invited a wide range of multidisciplinary creatives at Afripedia to dive into the topic of reclaiming the black image, beauty, and identity. With us, we have multidisciplinary artists Ellenx, Paul Adamah (Boko Yout), and Hadil Mohamed. Panel discussion moderated by Paulo Saka. Join us on an evening where we celebrate artistic diversity and explore perspectives in art, beauty, fashion, and community.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Painting outside the lines
– A conversation about deconstructing the black image, beauty, and identity.
For a long time, the work of black creatives has been cramped under one category – black art. A generalisation that often rests on outdated structures that no longer fit our present or the future we aspire to see.
To diversify the subject of black imagery, beauty, and identity we’ve invited working Sweden-based creatives to share their thoughts on the subject and how it translates into their own expression as artists. Through meaningful conversation, we wish to spark inspiration and invite change within various areas of the creative industry.
Afripedia together with Fotografiska Stockholm welcomes you to the second and last part of the series Afripedia Talks on 24 September 2022.
