Lisen Stibeck

Works mainly with projects in still photo. She also works as a portrait photographer and has done a series of assignments in fashion and travel journalism. Stibeck has the world as her working field. In her previous life, she worked as a designer and she uses her artistic eye when taking photos.

Stibeck wants to convey a feeling where the observer is given an opportunity for reflection. What happens when you see the photo? Stibeck’s recurring meetings with vulnerable people is an important part in her creation of the photos and she usually uses black and white film as she believes her photos are not defined by time – and that black and white illustrates that best.

Mary Ellen Mark has been Stibeck’s mentor for five years and she has been much influenced by Mark’s way of capturing vulnerable people. Lisen Stibeck has a series of exhibitions behind her in Sweden and abroad, including Iceland and Mexico.
