This set of drinks coasters is taken from David LaChapelle's photograph series Earth Laughs in Flowers (2012). Drawing on his love of still lives of the Dutch and European master painters in the baroque era, the photographer composes his own selection of similar compositions honoring the character of the earlier genre but introducing familiar items of contemporary consumer culture. Banquets, boudoirs, hospitals and hotel rooms are invoked in this highly painterly sequence; floral but not flowery.
