Fotografiska New York

New York former Fotografiska museum building on 5th Ave, at night

Fotografiska New York opened in 2019, bringing a new space for photography to Park Avenue South and the city.

Over five years, we proudly presented 48 exhibitions that moved between global discourse and local energy. From the major exhibition celebrating 50 Years of Hip-Hop to David LaChapelle’s first U.S. lifetime retrospective, Fotografiska New York positioned photography at the center of contemporary culture.

We introduced Daniel Arsham’s photographic work, premiered Andres Serrano’s Infamous, and presented exhibitions by New York City-based artists including Kia LaBeija, Adrienne Raquel, Martin Schoeller, Pixy Liao, and Ethan James Green, as well as ground-breaking shows by international artists such as JosèfaNtjam, Hassan Hajjaj, and Tony Gum, among others. Several of these exhibitions continue to travel across Fotografiska’s international locations in Stockholm, Berlin, Shanghai and Tallin.

Since its opening in 2019, Fotografiska’s New York drew hundreds of thousands of visitors and became a cornerstone of diverse cultural exploration in the heart of Manhattan.

After five years, the Park Avenue South chapter concluded in 2024, but we continue fostering a a global community of art lovers through our locations in Stockholm, Berlin, Tallinn, Shanghai, and soon Oslo.

A huge thank you to the team who made it all happen, and to our community, members, and partners who showed up and shaped this journey with us.
