1. Do I need to be approved to use the platform?


No. You can create a profile and apply to Open Calls without being approved. Approval is only needed if you’d like your profile to become publicly visible on the platform.

2. Is having a public profile mandatory?


No, not at all. Creating a public profile is completely optional. You can keep your profile private and still use it to apply to Open Calls.

3. Why should I apply for approval?


Applying for approval gives you the opportunity to make your profile visible to others on the Emerging platform. Once approved, your profile will appear in the Explore tab and you will receive your own individual Fotografiska URL that you can share. It’s a way to present your work more widely and be discoverable by curators, collaborators, and the wider Emerging community.

4. What happens when my profile is approved?


Once your profile is approved, it becomes publicly visible on the platform, appears in the Explore tab, and receives its own individual Fotografiska URL that you can share with others.

5. Where will my public profile appear?


Approved profiles are visible on the Emerging platform and can be discovered through the Explore tab.

6. What are the requirements for approval?


To apply for approval, your profile should feel complete and give a clear sense of your artistic practice.

This includes:

- social media accounts or website

- country

- a short bio

- 5 uploaded images that reflect your work

You do not need any formal education or professional experience. What matters most is that your profile thoughtfully represents you and your work.

7. How does the approval process work?


Once you apply for approval, the Fotografiska Emerging team reviews your profile with care, looking at its completeness, presentation, and artistic direction.

8. How long does the approval process take?


Review times can vary depending on the number of applications we receive. We do our best to review profiles as soon as possible and will let you know as soon as a decision has been made.

9. Who reviews profiles?


Profiles are reviewed by members of the Fotografiska Emerging team.

10. What if my profile is not approved?


If your profile is not approved, you’re very welcome to revise it and apply again. Sometimes a few updates can help your profile better reflect your work and artistic direction.

11. Is there a limit to how many times I can apply for approval?


No. You’re welcome to reapply whenever you feel your profile is ready.

12. Can I change my username or public URL later?


In some cases, yes. If you need help with this, please feel free to contact our team.

13. Do I keep the rights to my images and text?


Yes, always. You retain full rights to your work. Your content is only used within the platform in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

14. Can I remove my public profile or delete my account?


Yes. You can delete your profile at any time. Please keep in mind that this will also remove your submissions and related data from the platform.
